Why Did I Buy Two Offline Businesses?

So recently a friend of mine that I play golf with every Friday decided to retire.

​He is the owner of two beach and swimwear shops here in town. We live in a holiday town and people come down here for the lovely beaches and sunshine.

​They always need new swimsuits, towels, sunscreen etc.

​My friend did well with these shops so when he decided to retire, I decided to buy these shops from him.


​Few reasons actually.

​1. You see, my wife and I haven't had a real job in over 5 years thanks to my online business.

​We were lucky enough to travel a lot and generally just do the things that we like to do. Our kids are small still and we decided to plant some roots in the town that we are living in now.

​The idea was that my wife would mainly run the shops and I would still focus on my Amazon business. It gives her something else to do rather than just watching the kids all day long, day in and day out.

​2. I have always wanted an offline business since I was a little boy.

​3. To diversify our income.

​We have had the shops for 2 months now and here are some things I learned.

Online businesses especially Amazon Authority sites are a gazillion times better for me than offline businesses.


​First of all, offline businesses cost a lot more money to get started. I paid around 50K for each shop and they make around 3-4k in profit each per month.

​That includes the theme, design, all content, plugins and everything ready to go. All they have to do is drive traffic.

​The earning potential of an Authority sites dwarfs that of most offline small businesses. The market is so much bigger online.

​Amazon sites does not take nearly as much of my time as the shops. We have to go see a lot of different suppliers each month, spend a ton of time going through their inventory and making our orders. We have to store the stock, keep track of it, deal with employees, do admin etc etc.

​The list of things to do is basically endless. My wife stays up until midnight most nights dealing with Admin.

​We are not complaining. It is something different and we get to meet and interact with a lot of people.

​The point is that with an Amazon authority site, once the initial hard work is done building your site, getting traffic via SEO, PPC, Social media and building your list and sales funnels it is all done.

​After that you can literally work 1 hour per week if you want too.

​No need to deal with tons of suppliers, carrying and ordering lots of stock and dealing with a bunch of employees. The money is also better.

​Anyways, we might keep the shops for a few years, increase sales with my marketing skills and flip them for a nice profit.

​We'll see.
